About the Event

Healthy relationships are built on trust, deep listening, and mutual respect. When these elements are in practice, they shape how we show up, how we make decisions, and how we respond when we get it wrong.

Extractive relationships take without adjusting, and noticing without allowing feedback loops to meaningfully shape what happens next. Reconciliation with the living world follows this same relational truth. It isn’t defined by statements or good intentions. It’s revealed through relationships, how they are built, who holds power within them, and who truly benefits.

In present-day human relationships with the more-than-human world (including animals, plants, fungi, water, landscapes and living systems), extraction can be quiet and normalized. Reconciliation and cultivating reciprocal relationships with more-than-human beings asks something different of us. Where and how does this begin? How do we know when we’re getting it right?
